Margrave Comments
i added Long Tusk to the tribute to the fallen list
i’ve updated a few of the NPCs information that the party would know.
Aha. So I’ll revise the part in Rojur’s background about arriving when the Mages were in material form. When Rojur arrived unexpectedly in the Tower 41 years ago the Mages were in spirit form. Rojur will keep any information imparted by Xenin Fel a secret and we’ll take it offline from there.
Age is fine.
The mages were spirits in the tower until only very recently. no physical form. Xenin Fel is an agent of the Magi. An order of magic users with a selective membership. Part of his orders were to return the mages to form. And to protect the secrets in the tower. He would have shared some of this with you during your training. He did not share it with the Silver Circle. And will not.
OK, lets say that Rojur is currently 63 years old. He arrived in the Black Tower 41 years ago when he was 22 years old. That gives him enough time to have learned to speak Common, Lawful, Elven, Sylvan and Fae before arriving in the Tower. He learned the Elemental languages later. Rojur’s 63 is roughly equal to a normal human’s 16. Let’s say he’s an elm sort of elf that will typically live between 280-320 years. Does that make sense within the game? Feel free to alter the ages and/or age ranges I’ve suggested.
the black tower has been there 86… now 87 years
romag, kelno, alrrem and belsornig were around and then not. the party brought them back. except for alrrem.
OK, let me ask you this then: How long has the Black Tower in Harling been in existence and how long ago did our friends Belsornig, Alrrem, Kelno and Romag take charge?
Here’s what I’m trying to piece together:
1. Rojur is young, a teenager, for elves of his kind.
2. Yet he came to the Black Tower many years ago.
3. Belsornig, Alrrem, Kelno and Romag were in charge when he arrived.
4. His relationship with Xenin Fel came later.
He’s not an elf of redwood longevity but neither bamboo. Probably more like an oak or maple.
so Rojur can be like the redwood or like the bamboo. elves are few in comparison to humans. they age differently. the ones spoken about during bed time stories are usually the never aging ones… well never aging in the eyes of humans, halflings, and dwarves.
but there are others. who grow fast and whither.
What is the lifespan of Elves in your campaign David? I’m working on the background for Rojur (pronounced Roger) of the Black Tower. I want him to be a very young elf, like equivalent to a 15-16 year old human.
Last session Baalthus was captured by bandits, grilled (not literally), and summarily executed.
Here is a list of the items on his person that the bandit leaders stole:
Black Plate and Great Helm of Lareth the Beautiful
Black Ironwood Staff of Smiting, blessed by the Goodly Goddess and embedded with a Cuthbertine Holy Symbol
Mace, normal
Full Skin of Greenwillow Water
Waterskin
14 days of rations
6 packs of glowing fungus
Chloe’s Teleport Potion (one-way)
tinderbox
4 torches
Here is a list of everything he left behind at the Temple in Hommlet:
Throwing Hammer, normal
100’ Vine Rope
Wax Earplugs
3 Poultices
Backpack
2 Flasks of Oil
2 Doses of Anti-Venom
2 Flasks of Holy Water
3 Tarps
Pitons
Climbing Gear
Ice Pick
Winter Clothes
Spiked Boots
7 Cut Amethysts worth 500 gp
Cutting deals with the Chaos cultist’s bandits! That’s not what I said at all. I sa.. uh, did you say you’ve been telling the villagers to dig up the moathouse? That.. sounds bad.
“So, I probably shouldn’t have the villagers dig up anything more under the moathouse for the time being, and I need to cut a deal with the bandits that exempts the Temple from their nefarious activities. Got it.”
Not quite.. Don’t dig up any problems bringing hell and highwater down on Hommlet. And deal with the bandits, but don’t do anything that will destabilize our temple. Got it?
“Got it. Don’t forget that I’m the Guiding Light. Don’t dig any holes. Keep the Bandits stable. Anything else?”
Is the group in Hommlet?
“These bandits, or others like them, have been a constant noose around the neck of Keep Margrave. I had not thought too much of their involvement before. I suppose I believed they were in league with the Chaos Cult in the wilderness caves. That they are still here, but that cult disrupted may mean they are either a separate problem or they still have some means of communication with the buried cult.”
“Do as you see fit. I trust you; especially you Baalthus. You represent the light of the Gods in your endeavors. Do not forget that.”
“For the rest of you, try not to dig up anything that will cause too much havoc. I’d like to maintain this one point of stability in Margrave.”
So Father Ben, any instructions for your acolyte in regards to the bandits?
also: how close are you to lake geneva? GaryCon is march 7-8. i’m gonna be staying at the Plaza and will have a car.
so how about sunday the 15th?
I posted some dates on the yahoo site but I’m going to try to get in the habit of checking over here as well. I can play either on the 8th or the 15th. The 22nd is kind of iffy right now but not out of the question. March is usually pretty busy for me so I’m not sure of availability that far ahead.
Acerack II, huh?
when can y’all game again?
Nice site. I can add Father Ben, if you like.
Here’s where we can comment, etc.
